The Women’s Centre Programme for Adolescent Mothers was established in 1978. The mandate of the Programme is to provide continuing education for girls 17 years and under, who drop out of school due to pregnancy. In 1991, the Programme gained Foundation status, thus being named the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (WCJF) and operates as a limited liability company. The WCJF is a Government agency currently under the auspices’ of the Office of the Prime Minister and operates seven (7) main centres and eleven (11) outreach stations, island-wide.

OUTREACH

The WCJF provides outreach services to adolescent mothers who are unable to reach main centres.

ACADEMICS

Education and skills training is the WCJF main focus in order to improve levels of employment and productivity among Jamaica's youth.

The newly established Adolescent Resource Centre (ARC) is exclusive to adolescent mothers, where they can receive counselling and other health services.

COUNSELLING

WCJF provides intensive counselling on an individual and group basis in health and family life education.
